Information

The 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed to accelerate the improvement of the socialist market economic system and transform the economic development mode, rely more on modern service industries and strategic emerging industries to drive; improve people's healthy living standards, and provide the people with safe, effective, convenient and inexpensive public health And basic medical services and other development goals and tasks. Under the new situation, we must not only objectively analyze the challenges faced by the development of my country's medical device industry, but also seize opportunities, face problems directly, and actively promote the healthy and orderly development of my country's medical device industry.

Problems facing the development of my country's medical device industry

Domestic medical device companies lack strategic integration, showing a scattered and extensive growth trend. Although my country's medical device companies are developing rapidly, domestic companies have not been able to form a natural scale development in this relatively short-lived process. The vast majority of them stay in the extensive growth stage of scattered distribution and low-level vicious competition. This kind of laissez-faire industrial development The method is not conducive to the healthy development of the entire industry. Domestic companies are fighting for the meager profits in the low-end market, while the foreign medical device giants occupying the high-end market have a unique landscape. The root of this strong contrast lies in the lack of strategic planning and integration in the domestic medical device market. , Unable to form a "high-precision" scientific research division and intensive development.

Domestic enterprises lack independent innovation capabilities and lack core competitiveness. Medical equipment is a technology-intensive industry, and core technologies and high-level R&D teams play a vital role in the enterprise. However, due to the small scale, low starting point, lack of funds, and restrictions on business concepts, my country's medical device companies are often unable to form R&D teams with independent innovation capabilities. According to research, most Chinese enterprises invest only about 1% of total sales in research and development funds, and there is a long-term shortage of scientific research personnel and funds. In comparison, foreign pharmaceutical giants attach great importance to the training and development of talents. Many companies even regard teams with core technology research and development capabilities as the company's most valuable asset and give priority to the company's various resources.

Foreign medical equipment products are expensive, and there are hidden risks in technology and information security. At present, the low-end and middle-end market of my country's medical equipment is dominated by domestic products, and the high-end market is basically occupied by foreign companies, and it is infiltrating and competing in the domestic mid- and low-end market. The price of imported medical equipment is generally 50% to 100% higher than that of countries of origin such as Europe, America and Japan. For example, equipment such as TOMO radiotherapy systems is 2.5 million US dollars in Europe, America and Japan, and my country imports more than 5 million US dollars. Part of the equipment procurement is mainly based on government investment, which increases the financial burden. What's more serious is that the after-sales and maintenance of imported equipment are carried out by the original company's specialized personnel. Once the repair is delayed due to some reasons, the supply of consumables is interrupted, and the use of the equipment will be paralyzed. In addition, the core technology of high-end medical equipment is held in foreign companies, and information security such as medical diagnosis, treatment data and patient medical files is also facing huge risks.
